Premise Pharmacists: Serving Members Close to Where They Live and Work
What do the workplace, the barber shop, and the home have in common? They are all places pharmacists might visit a patient to further his or her care.
A recent article from Pharmacy Today delved into this approach, exploring the benefits of treating patients outside of the four walls of the pharmacy. It included interviews with Bill Raulerson, Premise associate vice president of pharmacy services, and Madelon Kneece, Premise pharmacist, on how meeting patients where they are – from the perspective of their location, and their health status – can make a big difference.
It’s an approach Premise has leveraged for decades. Because Premise providers are located onsite or nearby where members work and live, they have more opportunities to connect with members.
As Madelon put it: “Connecting with individuals at the workplace and focusing on their specific needs builds trust and permits a wider scope of care than what can be achieved in a traditional setting.
It creates an environment where pharmacists have both the time and relationships needed to fully realize their role on the care team.”
