Premise Health Medical Director Selected To Be A Member Of The Academy Of Medicine
The Academy of Medicine of Washington, District of Columbia, was organized in 1935 “for the advancement of the science and art of medicine and to promote the mutual exchange of knowledge between medical and other scientific groups.” For more than 80 years, the Academy has stood to live out its mission of promoting human health “by fostering an environment of biomedical education, research, service, and professionalism.” This influential group, limited to 175 members, aims to serve the local community, as well as on a larger scale with the national organization.
Dr. Yarborough has been practicing internal and occupational medicine for more than three decades. Today, he serves as the Medical Director for Medimmune, a 30-year-old biologic pharmaceutical company owned by AstraZeneca. Located in Gaithersburg, MD, nearly 25 miles outside of Washington, D.C., Medimmune focuses on three core therapeutic areas: oncology; respiratory, inflammation and autoimmune; and cardiovascular and metabolic disease. Here, Dr. Yarborough serves Medimmune members, providing primary care and occupational health services, and supports individuals in their efforts to live healthier lives.
He is most passionate about listening to members’ health concerns and then putting together easy-to-understand, straightforward action plans to address those concerns. Whether personal or work-related issues, Dr. Yarborough is committed to improving population health one member at a time.
