“Employers are seeing a significant challenge in getting their members care,” Beth Ratliff, chief operating officer, Premise Health

Beth RatliffFor a recent article from Health Payer Specialist, Beth Ratliff, chief operating officer at Premise Health addressed the rising trend of employer sponsored onsite behavioral health, what its benefits are for workforces, and why employees should be confident that their privacy is protected.

“Employers are seeing a significant challenge in getting their members care,” said Ratliff. As a result, employer interest in onsite behavioral health resources has been steadily increasing for several years. Premise saw its partnerships for onsite behavioral health grow from 13 to 80 in total from 2018 to 2024, which includes large organizations such as Google, Delta, and Dot Foods.

A recent survey from the Business Group on Health confirms that the topic remains top of mind for employers. Of those surveyed, 77% of employers reported seeing mental health issues amongst their workforce, up from 44% the previous year.

Ratliff continues, “…Employees may have to drive an hour to find someone who takes their insurance, or wait months to get an appointment; (Premise’s model) means not having to worry about their insurance,” she said.

In response to continued interest, Premise recently announced the expansion of its behavioral health model with the addition of psychiatric support. Ratliff commented on the expansion, highlighting the value that collaborative care teams provide for organizations and their people, saying, “Through a collaborative care team model, Premise empowers providers to confidently practice at the top of their licenses while connecting members to same day or next day mental health care. This approach improves care for patients and reduces specialist and hospital costs for their organizations.”
