Disney’s Center for Living Well Wins AAAHC “People’s Choice” Award
Orlando’s Center for Living Well Provides Primary Care to Disney Employees
We are pleased to announce that Premise Health’s Disney Center for Living Well was awarded the AAAHC Institute’s 2016-2017 Bernard A. Kershner Innovations in Quality Improvement “People’s Choice” Award for a primary care setting.
The Disney Center for Living Well – one of two Premise Health primary care centers recognized as finalists for the award – is located within Disney’s Orlando campus, offering employees a convenient and affordable option for their primary care needs. The center’s submission to AAAHC, titled “A Multi-Disciplinary Approach to Condition Management in a Primary Care Setting,” focused on how Premise Health effectively managed diabetic and hypertensive patient conditions over the course of three years.
The award was presented on behalf of AAAHC and the Institute for Quality Improvement to recognize exemplary quality improvement studies conducted by AAAHC-accredited organizations. The winner for the “People’s Choice” Award was determined by a ballot vote of attendees at AAAHC’s Spring Achieving Accreditation conference in Tampa, Fla.
“This has been a labor of love for the staff at Premise Health’s Disney Center for Living Well, and we’re honored to receive this award,” said Erica Thomas, Director of Client Operations at the center. “The hard work, dedication and pride the team pours into caring for our patients is unique – and the quality results we’re seeing reflect that.”
Premise Health’s 60 AAAHC-designated Patient Centered Medical Homes (PCMH) mark the highest number of centers with this distinction from AAAHC, the nation’s largest accreditor of employer-based healthcare.
“We’re honored to operate the nation’s highest number of AAAHC-accredited patient centered medical homes in the onsite industry. Having two centers named as finalists for the Bernard A. Kershner Innovations in Quality Improvement Award showcases our multi-disciplinary approach to improve patient outcomes. It is a tremendous achievement for all of our team members who have worked so hard to advance quality healthcare within our health centers,” said Peter Vasquez, MD, Executive Vice President, Medical Operations, for Premise Health.
